Strengthening the CECAREE Young Ambassadors for the Environment Club: Successful Training Retreat

During an intensive training retreat on March 28 and April 1, 2024, 22 ambassadors converged in Cap-Haïtien to strengthen their commitment to the environment. Organized by CECAREE, in collaboration with CATIE, this immersion covered key themes such as leadership, community mobilization, and watershed preservation. With educational field trips, including an exploration of the mangroves at Fort Saint-Michel, participants also expanded their knowledge of the local ecosystem. The event was also marked by the election of the new club coordination, thus providing a fresh impetus to this crucial environmental initiative.


As part of its ongoing commitment to the preservation of the environment, the Caribbean Center for Environmental Rehabilitation and Economy (CECAREE}, in collaboration with the Tropical Agronomic Research and Teaching Center (CATIE ), as part of the MDUR project, recently organized an intensive training retreat for the Club of Young Ambassadors for the Environment (CJAE) From March 28 to April 1, 2024, 22 dedicated ambassadors gathered. to strengthen their skills and their commitment to the protection of our planet, thus marking a further step towards protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development in Haiti.


The retreat was designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge needed to play an effective leadership role in their communities, focusing on various aspects such as leadership, group facilitation, community mobilization, conflict management and environmental preservation.



At the heart of the training was a series of interactive and informative sessions, led by experts in their respective fields. Ambassadors were immersed in in-depth discussions on how to catalyze change within their communities, with a focus on environmental awareness, watershed conservation and promoting sustainable management. sustainable use of natural resources.




A field trip to Fort Saint-Michel, Cap-Haitien, offered participants the unique opportunity to observe mangrove ecosystems up close and learn how waste was used to colonize these valuable habitats. This visit allowed the young ambassadors to understand the crucial importance of mangrove conservation for local biodiversity and the protection of the coasts against erosion.


The diversity of the participants, both geographically and culturally, enriched the discussions and helped foster a more global understanding of the environmental and leadership challenges facing the country. Ambassadors came away from retirement with a renewed vision, improved skills and a strong support network to continue taking action for the environment.



Thus, the election of the Club Coordination was an important moment of the retreat, symbolizing the passing of the torch to a new generation of environmental leaders. Sunday, March 31, the induction ceremony of the new ambassadors of Cap-Haitien was followed by the taking of office of the National Coordination, thus marking the beginning of a new era of commitment and collaboration within the Club CECAREE Young Ambassadors for the Environment.



Through this intensive and engaging training retreat, the CECAREE Youth Environment Ambassadors Club has strengthened its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development in Haiti, while training a dynamic cohort of ready leaders to make a meaningful difference in their communities and beyond, and we look forward to seeing the future achievements of these young people in their fight for a greener, more sustainable future.
